Garden Talk – Rain Barrels

Thomas Edison was resourceful and with a rain water collection system was able to grow thriving gardens along the Caloosahatchee River in the early 1900’s.

Using some of the same conservation techniques, participants will learn about establishing rain gardens and using rain barrels from Edison Ford Horticultural Staff and University of Florida/Lee County Florida Yards and Neighborhood Program.

Cost: Members are FREE; non-members $5. Rain barrels will be available for purchase. Each participant will receive a gift certificate for a  20% discount in the Garden Shoppe.

 

Garden Walk: Moonlight Gardens

     Join Edison Ford President & CEO Chris Pendleton and Senior Horticulturist Debbie Hughes for a moonlight stroll of the Edison Moonlight Garden. The Moonlight Garden will come to life with scents and sights only to be seen during a full moon.

Participants will meet at Pinchers Restaurant at The Marina at Edison Ford and walk through the Coconut Grove to the award-winning garden. Registration is required by calling 239-334-7419. Cost: Edison Ford Members FREE; non-members $5.

moonlight garden may 2014      Join Edison Ford horticulturists to learn how to design and plant your own Moonlight Garden. The talk will include elements of a moonlight garden, plant selections that work best in Southwest Florida and a tour of the garden.

 

All participants will receive a 20% discount in the Edison Ford Garden Shoppe. Cost: Edison Ford Members FREE; non-members $5. Registration not required.
